Event description:

The Emmaus Gathering is Andover Newton Seminary’s weekly program that includes dinner, Bible study, and worship.

The Gathering begins with a shared meal at 6:30pm in the Old Common Room (2nd floor, next to the Refectory). Because of pandemic protocols, grab-and-go meals are limited to fifty, and we prioritize these meals for those students who are coming to Emmaus directly from one of Andover Newton’s Colloquia. That said, there is often more than enough food to share with others.

Bible study begins during dinner and is led by Prof. Gregory Mobley and members of Colloquium 3.

Bible study concludes around 7:10, and we move to Marquand Chapel for worship, which begins at about 7:15. Worship includes performed music (and humming), prayer, testimony, and a blessing.

Inspired by the story of the Road to Emmaus in the Gospel of Luke, it is an evening full of wonder, as we ask ourselves: Where has Christ been made known to us this week?

Please note: At this time, the Emmaus Gathering is limited to students, faculty, and staff of Yale University. Visitors and guests from off campus are not permitted without prior academic or business approval. Andover Newton Seminary is following Yale University’s guidelines about visitors and guests as we transition back to in-person classes. For more information, visit Yale’s COVID-19 visitor’s guide. We look forward to welcoming you to campus when it is deemed safe to do so!
