Join us for the 2022 Bauer-Broholm Lecture with Melissa Florer-Bixler titled, “What is the church for? re-membering during the Great Resignation,” will be held virtually on March 8th at 7:00pm (EST).

In the past two years the U.S. church experienced a significant increase in pastoral resignations and early retirements leading many of us to wonder, “what is the future of pastoral ministry?” Below the surface of church conflicts, political division, and poor quality of life is a more haunting questions facing the church in 2022 - what is the church for in light of racial reckoning, tyrannical politics, and misinformation? This lecture will address this question with clear-eyed hope for a church vastly changed by politics and pandemic.

Melissa Florer-Bixler is the pastor of Raleigh Mennonite Church and a writer. She’s authored Fire By Night: Finding God in the Pages of the Old Testament and How To Have An Enemy: Righteous Anger and the Work of Peace.
