Chris Freimuth, a third-year M.Div. student, focused on the intersections of spiritual care, garden design, horticultural therapy, and gender and sexual liberation.

 

Prior to his time at YDS, Chris owned a garden design company in New York City and ran a massage therapy studio in San Francisco. At YDS, he has led a weekly yoga practice in Marquand Chapel, designed the garden spaces around the YDS labyrinth, and co-chaired both the Anything But Just Christian student group and the 2024 Graduate Conference in Religion and Ecology.

 

Reflecting on his sermon, Andover Newton Founding Dean, Sarah B. Drummond, shared that “Chris argued that false binaries dividing ‘humans’ from ‘nature’ deceive us into thinking that humanity exists on a separate plane from the rest of creation. Blurring those divisions causes us to look at everything, including the divine, differently.”
