Sarah Drummond keynote speaker at the Association of Theological School’s “Presidents Intensive”

December 13, 2019

Sarah Drummond was one of the featured speakers at this year’s Association of Theological School’s “President’s Intensive” in Orlando, Florida on December 12. She talked about her new book, Dynamic Discernment: Reason, Emotion, and Power in Change Leadership, using Andover Newton’s transition into Yale Divinity School embeddedness as a case study.

As the oldest graduate school of any kind in the US, and a charter member of the ATS, Andover Newton’s bold new moves have drawn attention good and bad, with some seminary presidents and divinity school deans turning to Andover Newton’s leadership for consultation, and others jumping to and then purveying inaccurate conclusions.

Sarah placed Andover Newton’s transition in a wider theological, historical, and cultural context and defined different leadership approaches that were essential to the school’s continuation.
