Invitation: Celebrating the Beloved Community, May 11

March 5, 2018

Friends and fellow alumni/ae:

We hope you are planning to join hundreds of others on the quad in Newton Centre on Friday, May 11, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. as we come together to celebrate the beloved community that has been, is, and will be Andover Newton! We know our time together will be delightful and poignant, difficult and joyous, yet filled with warm memories.

As we plan, we are imagining a great cloud of witnesses gathered on a lovely spring day. Hearts are brimming with affection, eyes occasionally with tears, as we join together to celebrate the Beloved Community that graced that Hill for generations. The afternoon will be preceded by an Open House at Trask with opportunities for socializing, browsing items for sale and for free, and a light lunch for minimal cost. Early in the afternoon we will hear from a variety of people as we honor all those who have contributed to our legacy and our future: alumni/ae, faculty and staff of all the years, mentors and teaching parish leaders, trustees and former volunteers. You are among that number! We’ll speak together of the Andover Newton identity and mission that will carry forward, the unique ANTS way of teaching and learning. We’ll conclude the afternoon with worship, followed by a dessert and coffee reception.

We know God calls us to celebrate all that has given meaning to our lives in that place, and all the people who make up the ongoing sacred community that is Andover Newton.

We genuinely hope you will be with us as we worship, laugh, cry and turn our faces toward one another, toward God and toward the future. Registration will help us plan. Invitations will largely arrive via email, so be sure we have your correct address – or consider this your invitation and simply register online!

If you have questions, you may send them to belovedcommunity@ants.edu, where your email will reach Brita Gill-Austern and Davida Foy Crabtree, co-coordinators of the event.
