Orlando Costas was one of Andover Newton’s theological heroes. He wrote important books and preached transformational sermons on new ways to conceive of living out and sharing the Christian faith. 

 

During the summer of 2023, when the American Baptist Mission Summit took place in the land of Costas’ birth, Puerto Rico, a group of attendees joined in reading aloud from his book, Christ Outside the Gate: Missions Beyond Christendom (Wipf & Stock Publishers, 1982).
